The WIDE Trend
As Daniel predicted in his blog in August 2011, Big is definitely Back! Websites are wider than they have ever been, partially to accommodate the abundance of wide-screen displays, but I think there's more to it than that. If I were to create a website for Yellowstone National Park using this trend, the header photo would look something like the picture above. This trend is heavily reliant on a header picture that spans the entire width of the site, covering the area above the fold. Do you remember the days when it felt so vital to have your most important information above the fold, as with newspapers? Now design embraces the effort of scrolling and many users find it to be fun!
Who Won Best 2015 Super Bowl Commercial
There was a time when a good advertisement was measured by how much it increased profit. Actually, that may not be true; it's probably too utopian. Perhaps there have always been false indicators of the successfulness of an ad campaign. In the year 2015, that indicator is (you guess it) social media. And with the biggest and most coveted commercial spots just behind us, let's take a look at how some of the most successful advertisement fared. Perhaps we will be able to glean something from these ad giants. (Please read the sarcasm with which that was typed.)
